What is speed?

Speed is relative. How does speed feel? Going 270 km/h on the Autobahn might give you an answer to that question. Going down a hill by bike could also give you enough excitememt to know how speed feels. But what is it like to race down a mountain on your longboard, going faster and faster, feeling the wind in your face, struggling with gravity and centrifugal forces? Most of us do not know. Watching a video cannot substitute the "real thing", but this film by Ari Marcopoulos is definitely close to an own experience - at least visually. Dan Meyer’s Annual Statistic 2009

At the end of each year you often look back at it and think of the highlights, happy moments, sad moments, changes that might have come. Dan Meyer [1] deals with that in a much more pragmatic way. He did an animation of his 2009's statistics - very nice! Nice to know: The video takes two and a half minutes. Making that video took quite a while, as you can imagine. 2.4 days per second of the video, to be precise. If you want to learn more about how this video was made visit Mr Meyer's blog: blog.mrmeyer.com [2]. [1] http://www.vimeo.com/ddmeyer [2] http://blog.mrmeyer.com/?p=5668

Bespla / For Free

This great video was brought to us by Marko Butrakovic [1] from Zagreb/Croatia. He is not only multi-interested but also multi-talented! In his 13 years of work he worked as a construction worker, farm boy, bar tender, truck driver, web designer, photographer, ENG cameraman, editor, producer and director. We are thankful that he did stick to the media and movie biz, so we can watch more of his work. By the way, this whole video has been shot on a Canon 5D Mark II. Originally, this is a camera for photography, but it can also shoot videos in Full HD - the quality is really amazing. [1] http://www.vimeo.com/butrakovic

Philosophy of skateboarding

Skateboarding has been a trend for almost three decades now. A trend? Well, to some it has been and still might be a trend. To others it is art - meditation - philosohy. As a skateboarder you see the city differently: You are always looking out for nice places to skate, you analyze the street surface, the surroundings. By this the skateboarder is a true urban being.
