Trailer: Berlin Calling

Berlin Calling is a not only a film about electronic music. It is also a tribute to Berlin and its electronic music scene. Directed by Hannes Stöhr it came to German movie theatres in 2008 and received a lot of attention. It is about the DJ and producer 'Ickarus' whose drug abuse leads him to institutionalisation. The preparation of the movie is said to have taken quite a while. Director Hannes Stöhr has been consulted by the Berlin based DJ Paul Kalkbrenner. In search of an actor for the role of Ickarus they finally decided that nobody could play this role as authentic as Paul Kalkbrenner himself. Berlin Calling had a big effect on Paul Kalkbrenner's career making himself and his music internationally known and recognized by the general public.
