Trailer: Berlin Calling

Berlin Calling is not only a film about electronic music. It is also a tribute to Berlin and its electronic music scene. Directed by Hannes Stöhr it came to German movie theatres in 2008 and received a lot of attention. It is about the DJ and producer 'Ickarus' whose drug abuse leads him to institutionalisation. The preparation of the movie is said to have taken quite a while. Director Hannes Stöhr has been consulted by the Berlin based DJ Paul Kalkbrenner. In search of an actor for the role of Ickarus they finally decided that nobody could play this role as authentic as Paul Kalkbrenner himself. Berlin Calling had a big effect on Paul Kalkbrenner's career making himself and his music internationally known and recognized by the general public.

Page 23 – Jeroen Houben, Tim Arts, Stefan van den Boogaard

Jeroen Houben is a young filmmaker from Amsterdam/Netherlands. Born in 1987 he is currently studying Audiovisual Design in Rotterdam. He as already made some short films and has a pretty fancy website [1], too. The film "page 23" has been made during the 48 hour film project in Utrecht in 2011, together with Tim Arts and Stefan van den Boogaard [2]. The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. In 2010, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 80 cities on five continents. This year, we're even bigger, with filmmakers around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours. - The 48 Hour Film Festival Pagina 23 [3], the original title of this short film, has been written and directed based on the line: "Amazingly beautiful, yet hoplessly impractical." It is not surprising that this outstanding movie won the jury prize as best film, the prize for best editing and the audience award. The people at the 48 Hour Film Festival in Utrecht loved this film and so do we! [1] http://jeroenhouben.nl/ [2] http://cargocollective.com/theworkoftimandstefan [3] http://www.pagina23.nl/

Influencia

Xuxu is a painter - and an alcoholic. He has been sober for 6 months now but with the alcohol apparently his inspiration has gone... A very nice short film by David Dutton. Only natural light is used in the movie. The technique of narration fits very well! David Dutton shot this movie in Salvador da Bahia / Brazil with family and friends. What a nice outcome!

Chasing the Light

What a giant amount of work: 57 stencils, 3 black spray cans, 8 9volt-batteries, 3 different light sources, many calculations, measurements and camera settings adjustments... and of course many many many nights taking 5313 pictures at a shutter speed of 15 seconds each. The result is the short movie you are watching. The producers said: "We hope with this no budget clip to inspire creativity and resourcefulness among young creatives. ENJOY!" Thanks a lot! We will! This short movie is more than thrilling! Really! It's about a girl using "chatter" to distract herself from problems with her boyfriend being far away. Chatter is  a website where you can meet random people to chat with. Suddenly she witnesses things that change everything - what is real, what isn't? Can you tell? Cyberspace is realer than we thought... This whole film & project (chatterfilm.com [1]) is pretty new and has just been out there for 10 days. Written and directed by Leo Resnes. Starring Karoline Stemre. [1] http://www.chatterfilm.com/
